Mellified's Origin story - Episode 1

Inspired by Arcy's thrilling Lupus Magnus tale - here's Episode 1 of Mellified's origin:
The girl lay twisted in the sweat-soaked bed. Overhead the ceiling fan buzzed and contorted through impossible dimensions. Black shapes slithered and curled and clawed all over her peripheral vision. She forgot her name. She almost forgot the terror. Almost.
Egyptian heat blasted through the shutters of the medical facility. The last and final treatment from the doctor with the small name had been a week ago. Wildly experimental and wildly painful. Even her parents had given up hope now.
The fan whispered to her. There - a flash of her name - but lost in a burst of feverish pain.
Nameless and alone she drifted through impossible dreams.
*Remember/dream* The shifting sand
*Remember/dream* The fall
*Remember/dream* The chamber
*Remember/dream* The black liquid
*Remember/dream* The voices
*Remember/dream* The presence
*Remember/dream* The rescue by a boy called Nassir
*Remember/dream* The distraught parents
*Remember/dream* The unknown sickness
The desert wind was coming up.
The wind whispered to her. There - a flash of her name - but lost in a burst of feverish pain.
The sirocco howled and grew in intensity. The light faded, sand obscured. The ceiling fan accelerated, buzzing madly. The shutters flew open and slammed shut.
Sudden silence. Stillness and light.
The silence whispered to her. Drink.
In her clawed hand she discovered a stoppered vial. Ornate, precious, jewelled. Filled with a glowing golden liquid. Motes of light lazily spun through impossible dimensions and barely glimpsed dark matter floated queasily.

So she did.
