I'm sorry to hear that Syd. You do play at US times, and one of the specific reasons I started this raid is that me, and many of my friends, could only find US raids. This was a PITA because for people in the Netherlands or Germany, such raids are at 3AM. For me, US raids at at 12 noon. None of those times are any good for me, either on weekends or on working days.

So rather than give up entirely I would be keen for you to look into the US-time raids being organised by Volen. http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3664 The sooner he gets more signups the sooner they can get underway, I imagine.

I am hoping that raid gets underway soon because by myself, I don't have any good way to ensure everyone gets to raid regularly. Some people, by virtue of their experience and role, will get regular attendance. Others, by virtue of their timezone, might struggle to get in a raid once a fortnight. This is a not a great situation and the only solution is a second raid.

As to points, one purpose of the system is to make looting fair to people who cannot get on as much. For example, if we just had standard need/greed rolls, then me as the organiser would get the most loot most likely, because I'm expected to be in every raid. Because I can't get everyone in, I need to reward this reserve attendance.

i am aware of the us raid. and the Sunday raid is at a time that i was able to go to but and i guess this makes me a bit of a bitch but i feel left out when i have signed up for the last 3 Sunday raids only to be left out. this last time i was the 7th to sing up and yet "nope you are a silly jerk mender you don't get to play with us". so the best way for me to stop feeling left out of the cool kids club is to not give a damn about what you all do and continue to do my own thing.

These are the signup threads for the last 5 raids before this sunday, including the previous three Sunday raids.

15th august: http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3708 (Thursday)
11 August: http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3689 (Sunday)
8 August: http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3654 (Thursday)
4 August: http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.ph ... 8&start=30 (Sunday)
28 July: http://www.nine-swords.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3540 (Sunday)

You only posted in the 11 August raid (and this one), and so there was just one prior signup to this one, not three.

I am sorry you missed out this Sunday, but when I put together a team, I have to meet different things. For this raid, a few people were going away for two weeks, so I really wanted them in so they wouldn't miss out. Some others also had signed up several times in those threads before but had to sit out.

Clare puts in a lot of effort to try and make this work, there are 10 raid slots. If it was as simple as "Whoever signs up first gets a spot" Managing this would be incredibly easy.

But it's not, there are a lot of factors playing into account. No one wants you to feel left out, or leave you out. Clare even gives people that sign up and show up priority on getting into the next raid, which is another factor added on top of several factors that are already hard to manage.

It will never "seem" fair, since it's not possible to be completely fair all Clare can aim for is as good as possible.

And so far it seems to be going well but since we have way too many people and only 10 raid slots, this is a tough job.

Well, about that...

It is true that Syd had signed up before and didn't get in. But I also had others that had missed more raids, and people who were going away for 2 weeks and so were guaranteed to miss at least 4 raids.

And then there's an issue I am well aware of that myself and a few other people I am depending on (like tanks and experienced DPS players) manage to get in often because the raids are not possible without them, or at least substantially more difficult.

So that then creates a situation where a few people are able to get in most raids and then I don't want to rotate other people in one week in, one week out if I can help it. I really want most people to be able to attend 1-2 raids a week. Otherwise it seems that a few people get into every raid and others only get in once every two weeks. I'd much rather that the time between raids for anyone is not more than a week.

All this puts a natural limit on the people I can actually accept. I have a feeling that despite efforts to get people involved, the raids I am running are pretty close to full and adding too many more people will more or less break them.

I cannot think of any way to solve this issue other than someone else running additional raids.
