There is no buff on you, the visual indication you get is an AoE white circle growing around your position. Once that fills out, the lurker will throw a filth puddle to the location you're on at this point in time. You can see that quite well in the podding video of the cabal NY raid guide.

As I tiny correction (only since I had to JUST learn this brand new myself) it's actually two circles. The first circle follows you and indicates where the second circle will be placed. As soon as you see the circle around you, you have till it fills out completely to run away from everyone else, preferably aiming for a spot that no-one should need to go to. Then the second circle will appear, and will NOT follow you so you have time to get out of it and run back to the fight.

Thanks for the help - I understand the mechanics - it's just that if there are a few of you standing in the same area then I'm never sure who the circle is centered on, so with my reactions I'm quite slow to start moving away if its me. My problemo!

I always take the point "if you're not sure if it's on you, assume it is on you and move. You'll work it out if it's not on you.

And yep, I usually do take a look at the HP of the lurker and start getting out when I suspect Final Resort is coming. Just that this time there was filth behind the buff circle to the left of the circle and behind that one as well. Normally not an issue when I have DFA and the rocket launcher, but this time I was on adds and had the flame chucker and was just stuck... :S

Anyway we got the sucker. I'll write it down to taking one for the team.
