General

  • In front of a chasm leading into a gaia engine, there is a gathering of Mayan summoners.
  • All of the Mayans must be killed. After a few minutes, the main boss flies in.
  • After reaching a health threshold, the boss will start resurrecting adds. They will keep resurrecting in groups, until The Varangian appears.
  • The Varangian will run in to the playfield, brandishing a shiny sword. He will buff the group, giving you increased damage and resistances. After a few minutes,  the main boss will appear again.
  • The boss will keep resurrecting adds during the final part of the fight. These adds will start walking toward the group members, blowing up in their face if they are not killed at a distance.
  • Abilities too watch out for:
    • Exhale the void: Cone-shaped, persistent filth AoE. Can be interrupted.
    • Open the Rift: Pulls players close to the boss and stuns them, before casting a large, circular AoE.
    • Concuss: The screen will get blurry, and (depending on dungeon level) the team members can be teleported to another location in the playfield. The bosses' aggro is reset.
  • E8+:  Open the Rift has a larger diameter.
  • E14+: All adds now explode upon death.

What the tank needs to know:

  •  At the start of the fight, you must aggro the adds. Depending on the elite level and your gear, you can aggro them in small groups or all at once. It is usually wise to lure them to one of the edges of the playfield.
  • The boss will cast several abilities that you must look out for.
    • Concuss: The boss' aggro will reset after this ability. Make sure you pick it up again before a group member is killed. Some tanks use taunts while the boss is still casting this ability, and this helps with regaining aggro.
    • Exhale the void: It is a large cone-shaped filth AoE. It can be interrupted. It can be easily dodged, but if you do not interrupt it, the playfield may be filled with filth after a while. There is also the chance that team members will be pulled in during Open the Rift and land in the filth.

What the healer needs to know:

  • Bringing a cleanse can be useful for when the boss casts Open the Rift. Cleansing the group, can make it easier for everyone to survive and get out from the AoE in time.
  • E14+: Bringing group heals is adviced, because of exploding adds.

What the dps need to know:

  • Allow the tank to pick up the adds and position them at the beginning of the fight.
  • Position yourself behind or at range from the boss, and at a distance from resurrecting adds.
  • After the Varangian has placed his buff on the group, and the main boss has returned, the adds will periodically resurrect. These adds must be killed before they manage to walk to a group member and explode.
  • E14+: Adds will explode upon death, be sure not to kill too many at once. Save your big AoE attacks for the boss.
