General

  • The Varangian stands in a large area filled with shallow water. He will periodically submerge into the water, summoning adds (Sea Burials). After the adds are killed, he will emerge from the water in a different location. 
  • After reaching a health threshold, the boss will run away. You need to follow him to the new area with a semi-circle of shipping containers. The water will now be electrified, so you must stand on the containers. 
  • The Varangian is Immune to CC (Crowd Control effects)
    • Immune to Stun, Knock Down, and Obstruct
    • Immune to Root and Snare
  • Abilities to look out for
    • Deep Blast: Dark water that will kill you. Avoid it.
    • Charged Hack: If not interrupted, will cause aggro to be lost and a new target picked by the boss.
    • E8+: Mjolnir's Echo: Is a knock back and aggro reset. Can be interrupted. 
  • E14+: Adds are now harder to kill, and should be killed before following the boss to the area with the shipping containers. 

 

What the Tank needs to know:

  • Interrupt Chaged Hack.
  • Be prepared to pick up aggro from adds when boss submerges.
  • Aggro resets when boss re-emerges. Get to boss before trigger happy DPS does.

 

What the Healer needs to know:

  • A group heal over time when boss submerges may keep DPS alive if tank is slow grabbing agro from adds
  • May need a couple group heals slotted to keep everyone propped up when crates go electric

 

What the DPS need to know:

  • If tank is short on interrupts, they may ask a DPS to interrupt Charged Hack
  • Burn down adds ASAP
  • Damage from electric crates is less than damage from falling in water. Usually better to stay on crate and let healer keep you propped up.
