Book Worm

Post by Katelin »

I am a book worm, proud of it - I love reading.

Today, I finished reading "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" which is Neil Gaimans new novel.

I loved it, absolutely couldn't put it down - and was so sorry it ended. Far too short :D
Therefore, I am making this thread to say READ THIS BOOK - and give me more book suggestions. My shelf cannot be full enough hehe
If you find yourself forced to mercilessly slaughter your teammates because they become infected with some rare mutation, keep in mind that you are only doing your job -
They would do the same for you.

I love books written by Elizabeth Moon, especially the Deed of Paksenarrion saga (several books, still going on).

I highly recommend that series.

Ah, Pakse, yes, remember those books well :)

If you like those books, you might want to try When Women were Warriors

Last "big" book series for me were the Nantucket series by S. M. Stirling

Did you read the last one, written 2 months ago?

Let me know how you like them. Paks was the source of some sleepless nights, as I couldn't let the book down.

Depending when you read the last one, you may have missed more than one, actually. Next one is scheduled for May 2014.

Umh... maybe I'm blind, but I can only find the three I already have, published in 2008:

On my desk right now, currently reading :

Henri Barbusse, Le Feu (translated in English as Under Fire, I think)
Kim Stanley Robinson, The Years of Rice and Salt

Many, many more scattered through my apartment (I often read a dozen books at a given moment), but those two are just absolutely awesome.
The first is a diary of a squadron during WWI (specifically the year 1915), the second an uchronia : what would the world have been like if the Black Plague killed 99% of european population instead of a third ?
Keep cool and ride the Drama Lama.
