That would just make you single target DPS (burn that boss!) and taking care of adds wouldn't be your priority.

Claretta is using the term "Ranged DPS" to mean not "DPS that used ranged weapons," but instead "DPS who's main priority is killing adds."

I suggest using "Add killer DPS" instead!

From page 2:

Single target DPS means you focus on single target DPS and nothing else.
Buff DPS means pistol shotgun.
Ranged DPS means adds will be your focus when they come. You should be using the flamethrower, as well as having extra AoE in your build.

As far as blood/ele DPS goes, well they unfortunately are not so great at AoE on moving targets, so would only take them as single target DPS. They can do OK support AoE DPS, but I'd rather not take multiple people off the boss every 30 seconds, because that quickly leads to half the raid having poor DPS uptime as they all stop to target adds.

I always used DD, but here in TSW it's all DPS

Role was implicit by your class in most past games, but in WoW damage dealers began being referred to as "DPS" and ever since then, that has been the dominant term used.
