March Soapbox: Floryn

The idea
The idea is to give you 10 to 15 minutes to share something with the cabal. That something could be anything: if you want to show everyone an amazing build you have put together, the soapbox is yours; if you want to recite a love poem for your RP-love, the soapbox is yours; if you want to tell everyone that we should do more PvP, the soapbox is yours. The possibilities are endless.

In February Katelin talked about using Twitter, which was really interesting. This month's soapbox is still free, but make sure you don't miss it!

The idea is also for everyone to be present with their character, like we do with other cabal meetings.

Signing up
If you would like some time on the soapbox, leave a reply on this thread. You don't need to specify the subject you will be talking about; that will be sort of a surprise for the listeners.

I will be on an outing with my family this weekend so I won't be there, and I don't know if this is a soapbox subject or a recruitment subject, so I'll just post here and let you decide what to do with it.

It recently came to me that there might be a recruitment tool that maybe we can add to the forum for potential candidates. I have the idea, but if it can be implemented is another question.

My idea is that it would be nice to potential recruits, as we profile ourselves as being on nearly all continents (anyone in Africa or Antartica ?), to be able to see how many members are in the same time zone/ country/ continent as they themselves are. It would allow them to know that if they join Nine Swords there will (potentially) be other players (many other players) connected at the same time as they are. At the same time, it can also be a warning that there won't be anyone to play with them and so that they either have to adapt their hours (like Australian lone-boy Sonno), or find a cabal more suited to their playing time needs.

I took a look in the cabal rooster but unfortunately the biggest part of the members haven't indicated where they are located. Sooo, I don't know, if it is a good idea, if it is feasible project. Another point, if it is feasible, would be how to we present the information ? An interactive worldmap would be nice, but is it compatible with the forum ? Or maybe a worldmap with the number of members written above each continent ?

Anyway, there you have it.

Thanks for the idea Anta. I had this idea for a map of Nine Swords world domination as well but I can't remember what the reaction to it was at the time. I will poke some people and see if they remember.
