Summary
Lairs are areas within each of the monster filled playfields across our Secret World. If you look at your map while in these playfields, the lairs are clearly marked with a burning line around their perimeter.
Within each lair are 3 missions to complete. Once you have completed the missions with your team or raid group, you can then all use the rewards to spawn bosses to get your hands on some loot.
Note: If at any point, you realise that you forgot to pick up a mission or something has not updated for you. Alert your raid team. Sooner is definitely better than later in the lairs. Your team can help you to catch up if you let them know soon enough. Only saying something when you get to the boss spawn at the end of the lair is not likely to go down very well.

Who can run Lairs
Lairs are intended for players at level 50. Your IP should be no lower than 150 as a DPS. As a healer you can likely manage with slightly lower. Tanks however need to ensure to have around 10k natural HP.
Before heading to a Lair
There are a few things you can do for yourself to prepare yourself before going to a lair. For example:
- Make sure you have discovered the nearest anima well to the lair in the zone you are going to
- You will need to take 3 side missions at the start so make sure you aren't currently half-way through any that you don't want to do again
- Make sure you have inventory space - if all 6 bosses are killed then there will be a lot of items
- Stock up on Anima Potions to increase your skills - the free ones if you are a patron are great
- Make sure you have enough anima shards to repair yourself a few times
Within the Lair
You will know you are in a lair based on the new graphic effect you will see around the edge of your screen and a loud bonging noise that will sound.
Within the perimeter of each lair are monsters that are level 50. They overall have a lot more HP than other monsters in the playfield and they also are known to have un-purgeable buffs running on them. The completion of missions within the lairs rewards an "Essence". Each lair has 3 bosses that you can spawn based on these mission items.
Teaming for Lairs
It is common in Secret World Legends to create a raid team to run a lair. Although the main lair content is quite straight forward for a team of 5 at level 50, the lair loot chests are available for everyone in the zone to loot. Therefore, a raid group of 10 will enable 6 bosses to be spawned, and 6 loot chests to be available after the bosses have been defeated. Bosses in some lairs are also relatively hard, a team of 10 will have a much higher chance of defeating them successfully.
As all members need to get into the same zone instance, it can sometimes take a few meet-ups to successfully get all 10 people to the same area. This is especially often the case in Kingsmouth where there are a lot of new players in the zone. Meeting up on the last person that failed to get into the same instance is the most likely to move you to an instance where you can all get in.
Only after your WHOLE raid team are in the instance, should you let other people know in the cabal that you are about to start a lair. It is absolutely ok for other cabal members to try to get into the same instance so that they can also have a chance at getting their hands on the loot chests from the bosses.
The Missions
Each lair has 3 side missions that ALL team members need to pick up before you start the lair.
Some missions have an item to pick up right at the start of the lair where you have picked up your mission from. Do not forget it - otherwise your mission will not continue updating as you work through the lair!
Once you have completed the 3 missions along with all the other members in your team, you need to find a summoning circle. There are usually 2 lair boss summoning circles per lair. In 1 lair per region, there is a regional boss spawning circle.
Summoning Bosses
Every person in a summoning team needs to have the correct Essence for the boss that is about to be spawned. The Essences are gained from the mission rewards from the 3 lair missions. You then need to head to a summoning circle.
One person in your team needs to stand in the summoning circle and double click the Essence in their inventory. At this point a large beating heart will be in the middle of the summoning circle, suspended in the air. The remaining members of the team then also need to use the heart by pressing "F".
During the boss fight, if you die it is important to get back to the boss as quickly as you can in ANIMA FORM (you have a maximum of 10 minutes denoted by the "Lair Boss Reserved" buff running on your character). However, another consideration is that if your team did not all die with you, you may miss the update for the kill if you are too far away when they kill it. Sometimes it is even better not to resurrect, especially if you die when the boss is also very low on health. Although you can come back and try again if your team wipes, there are only a limited number of tries (maximum of 5) dependant on the amount of lit flames around the summoning circle.
The Loot
Once you have defeated the spawned bosses, you can unlock the loot chest that spawns at the side of the summoning area. Loot inside consists of distillates for Signets, Talismans and Weapons, sometimes there will be Signets in there, and on occasion Essences for the 3 Regional Lair bosses.
